We are an open access service. We accept self-referrals direct from veterans who live in the Greater London region, or via any professional working with veterans from any organisation. It can be difficult to take that first step into treatment, therefore a referral from an agency, in agreement with the individual might be preferable.
If you are thinking about coming to speak to us, but would like an informal chat about what this would involve, you can call our mainline number and speak to any of our staff about this. If you prefer to talk first with someone who has served, you can ask to speak to one of our peer workers.
You can refer to the London Region Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service by downloading and completing our Referral and Consent Form [pdf] 175KB Completed forms must be emailed to: nlft.veterans@nhs.net
The minimum information required for a referral is listed below.
Name
Date of Birth
Military Service Number
Contact details
GP details
Brief reason for referral
Whether the client is aware of the referral
In our experience, a more detailed referral allows for a better assessment, so we prefer referrals to include as much background information as possible.
Please note: all referrals must be accompanied by a signed 'Consent to Release Service and Medical Information' form which is included in the link to the referral form above.
You will be required to bring proof of having served in the UK Armed Forces to your initial appointment.
We aim to respond to referrals within 24 working hours of referral and to offer appointments within 10 working days or 5 working days if there is more urgent need.
You can refer by letter, email or call the service to discuss any potential referrals. You can also read our London Veterans Service leaflet.
